In our field sketching session, we'll turn our attention to the graceful wading birds!  These fascinating creatures demand both patience and keen observation. We’ll practice some fun exercise to loosen up our hands and overcome the fear of the blank page, then dive right into sketching whichever birds catch our fancy. Kelly will cover how to see shapes within birds, how to use negative space, and other techniques to capture birds in motion. In this session you will be provided with a sketchbook and a small package of colored pencils to keep, but feel free to bring your own supplies. Birds can be far away at this location so if you have a scope you can bring that too.

Difficulty: Easy

Trip Type: Sit

Trip Distance: Our sketching location is less than 0.25 miles from the parking lot

Terrain: Pavement, gravel

Notes: Paid parking is available in the lot at Big Marsh and bathrooms are available at the visitor’s center.
