Meeting Location: Jarvis Bird Sanctuary Viewing Platform
Registration Required
More than 150 different species of birds visit the 10 acre Bill Jarvis Migratory Bird Sanctuary each year. Among them six species of herons and bitterns (including black crowned night herons), wood ducks, hawks, yellow-billed cuckoos, hummingbirds, thrushes, vireos, 34 species of warblers, 18 native species of sparrows, and many more.
Though the core of the sanctuary is protected by a fence, visitors have a good view from the viewing platform. A birding trip leader from Red Hill Birding will provide coffee and their talents to the Jarvis Bird Sanctuary in Lincoln Park — you bring your own mug.
Meet at the viewing platform on the east side of Jarvis Bird Sanctuary, where the leader will post up with a scope and point out fall warblers and whatever else drops by. Metered parking is available at Jarvis in the Waveland Parking Lot at the east end of W Addison.
