Whether you are just discovering birding, hoping to share birding with family members, or trying to develop newfound skills, there is probably no better place in Chicago than Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary!

This 15-acre bird sanctuary, along with its adjacent 3-acre Montrose Beach Dunes Natural Area, attracts thousands of migratory birds and boasts over 350 species recorded. A birding trip to Chicago would not be complete without an adventure at the “Magic Hedge”. Have fun!

Terrain: Pavement, Sand, Dirt, Mud

Notes: Portable restrooms are available. Free parking available on all nearby streets except Montrose Harbor Dr. This walk can be long and there are few places to sit. The beach terrain is sandy and mostly uneven. The pier terrain is even concrete, but there are a couple of high steps and potholes that may endanger wheelchair users.
