Designed in 1871 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, then redesigned in 1893 to host the World's Columbian Exposition (Chicago World’s Fair), makes Jackson Park one of the largest and most historically significant parks in the city. The fair's legacy still exists in the park: the Japanese garden, the Statue of The Republic, and the Museum of Science and Industry (an exhibition building from the fair).
Jackson Park is also a birder's paradise in the heart of Chicago. This sprawling oasis boasts a diverse range of habitats, from open water to woodlands, attracting over 250 bird species. We’ll keep an eye out for migrating waterfowl on the lakefront, explore the wooded areas for songbirds, and scan the skies for soaring raptors. With its rich avian diversity and convenient location, Jackson Park offers an unforgettable birding experience.
