The Bill Jarvis Migratory Bird Sanctuary in Lincoln Park, Chicago is a 10-acre sanctuary that offers a surprising haven for birds where over 150 species have been observed.
From a walking path circling the fenced sanctuary and a bird viewing platform, you can easily observe a variety of birds. We’ll look for warblers flitting through the trees, listen for the calls of sparrows, search the pond for herons and waterfowl, and keep our eyes to the sky for hawks soaring overhead.
Difficulty: Easy
Trip Type: Your choice of 0.25 - 1 miles approximately
Terrain: Crushed gravel paths circle the sanctuary. The viewing platform has a ramp.
Notes: We will start on the viewing platform and then circle the sanctuary. You can choose to remain on the platform, which has benches. The platform is 100 feet from the parking lot on a crushed gravel path.
